a good Wednesday night

Last night was a bit of a surprise. Students were in a great mood and a lot of the games went well. We also are having a surprising turnout with non-churched kids.

Funny but true fact. The two most effective students at brining friends who’s lives get changed are probably not even believers. They definitely are not at the core. Put that in a pipe and smoke it.

That doesn’t surprise me. The core kids in my ministry seem pretty fine being the core kids. They like their little family. They don’t want “those” kids here. But the new kids — watch out! They like it, so they want their friends to come, too.

When I was in college, it was the same way. I led a Bible study, and there was this one non-Christian guy who used to come, and we’d be asking the intro question, and he’d go get other guys and tell them, “Hey, we’re talking about ______; you gotta come in here…”

As I reflect on that observation it just goes back to where my core students are at and how much they need to be equipped and also grab a hold of the passion for sharing Christ’s message and the ramifications of people not having Jesus.

Longitudinally, I remember very similar things being true as I was a student. I only remember bringing one kid to youth group in Hanau… and he bolted during the games. I spent the rest of the night looking for him and then he never came back. He came to know Christ a year later and was a “leader.”
