On June 21, 1997 Kristen and I did something crazy. We got hitched! We heard all the reasons not to get married at 21 years old and frankly all of those naysayers were wrong! The last 10 years have been fantastic, it wasn’t as hard as people made it out to be, we never lived on government cheese, and I hope I haven’t been as big of a loser as some probably told Kristen I was.

So, I’ve been trying to figure out what to get Kristen for the last couple of years. I’m not big on Hallmark holidays, I barely do Christmas, Valentines day isn’t on my radar, birthday’s aren’t something I am big on either… so what will I get Kristen for our anniversary?

For putting up with me for 10 long years, Kristen has won an all-expense paid trip for two to sunny and gorgeous Northern Ireland. (OK, well… we think overcast and 55 is gorgeous)

Ireland may not be Maui or Cancun or even Alaska, but it’s a dream for the two of us. Of course, we’ll get a chance to catch up with Dave as well as hopefully make a few new friends.

We actually don’t have a lot of plans for our trip. We have a list of things we want to do… but we’re kind of planning to do it "Amazing Race" style. One thing for sure… we’re not headed to the Blarney Stone.

Of course, you can’t do a 10 day vacation without your kids, can you? What kind of anniversary trip has two kids in tow? I mean… yeah. Let’s just say that I’m a firm believer that sometimes mom and dad just need to be husband and wife. This will be our great adventure. And we’re learning how cool some of our friends really are as someone is taking in our orphaned children, incredible.
