5 things great leaders never say

If I were preparing a talk about leadership this would be my premise and these would be my 5 points.

5 things great leaders never say….

  1. I let others do my dirty work.
  2. I could use one more critic.
  3. I’m not hard on myself.
  4. That’s impossible for us to accomplish.
  5. I need to get better at recognizing others achievements.

If you missed it, here’s a post on why people follow.

    1. “Never.”

They might say “That’s impossible for us to accomplish.”  You know, I usually say that right after some idiot suggests that we produce power using cold fusion, since that’s scientifically proven to be, well, impossible.

Mike, reminds me of the saying “society is moving a such a fast pace these days that the man saying ‘it can’t can’t be done’ is getting interuppted by the man doing it” – Henry Ford…

Regardless of the wisdom of Henry Ford, that which is scientifically impossible remains scientifically impossible.  There are plenty of ideas in this world that are impossible…just not nearly as many as most of us think there are.  A good leader will not waste resources on that which cannot be accomplished.

“Before I talk today, I want you to know my latest book is on sale in the lobby… “

I almost said “Hold on Tony, every ‘leader’ self-promotes!”, and then I realized Adam said GREAT leaders. Ahhhh adjectives….they make a difference!!
