So…
I started playing Romeo Golf Course again today. When I played back in April in Huntington it was just a flash. It didn’t really mean anything and I felt a lot better than I really was about it. But today, I finally ponied up the money for my dues and got out to the course. After this afternoon, I plan on playing each morning until fall before work. (Ssshhhh…. Maybe even before church!)
The game
I have to admit that the best part of golf is the solitude I get out of it. I enjoy being alone on the course. I play fast and I don’t like anyone to slow me down.
I teed off today at about 3:00 PM, struggled on the first hole but still managed a 7. Off I went, mostly bad shots with a few signs of things to come. I hit a great drive on the terrible 4th hole of the South course, a perfect 3 wood off the tee on the slim 8th hole… A shot I struggled with all year… And I putted and chipped pretty well.
A long way to go
Yeah, that’s about it. I could philosophize about the ups and downs I experience. But it was abundantly clear that I am far out of golf shape. The swing was tight and I felt pretty weak around the course. Control was a major issue. I need to close up the swing and keep everything still through impact to concentrate on getting the ball straight.
