Creating Sacred Spaces in Your Daily Life

While I’m not a proponent of technology fasts, I find that having pre-determined places or times in my life where I just don’t use technology helps me maintain healthy boundaries for technology.

A few examples… the dinner table in our house is technology free during mealtimes, vacations are another space where we like to be technology limited or completely offline.

But even small sacred spaces that are private to me truly matter. For example, if I have a face-to-face meeting or hangout with a friend over coffee my goal is to completely ignore my phone. I want to sit down for that hour with a friend, enjoy a coffee with them, talk about what they want to talk about and never once think about, touch, or look at my phone. I want that person to know they are the most important thing going on for me in that moment.
