Democrats taking over?

DemocratsThe last 36 hours have been huge politically. I’m not really a political person but I can tell something significant has happened.

As a fan of the 2 party system I can actually see how having a split here between the Executive and Legislative branch may actually get things moving faster. At the same time, getting their butts kicked will wake up the Republicans to get back to the grassroots "what the people want" mentality that brought them to power.

The reality is that after 6 years of Republican control, they didn’t get done much. Sure, we’ve got the Supreme Court judge thing under control… but they managed to do little on the issues that conservatives care about.

Thankfully, she’s not running

Oprah3
For a long time I’ve joked that one day soon Hillary Clinton will run for president and Oprah Winfrey will be on her ticket. Not only is Oprah not running in 2008, she is suing the pants off of some poor guy who is suggested she run. As I read the legal notices sent by Oprah’s lawyers to this guy on The Smoking Gun it made me kind of sad.

While I understand the business end of protecting your property (Yes, Oprah has a trademark on the word "Oprah.") it’s pretty sad that this guy put out some money to make some pennies off of her fame… and ended up losing everything… $65,000. You would think that since she is worth hundreds of millions of dollars, she would at least pay the guy something for the website www.oprah08.net.

It only proves my point that Oprah is the anti-christ. I think her and Martha Stewart will try to take over the earth.  🙂

State of the disUnion

StateIt is the week between the NFL Playoffs and the Super Bowl and it is the week of the State of the Union address by President Bush. I don’t envy him.

Even with so much going right in the economy and in Iraq, Bush will likely get hammered for not doing enough. It seems like we’re right back to CNN being the Clinton News Network where his presidency is ruthlessly attacked. It is sad, and it is a coordinated effort to turn the tide in the next elections. The press is as left-controlled as ever and they aren’t pulling any punches. You would think that John Kerry and Ted Kennedy were the only two senetors out there… at least when Hillary isn’t available for an interview. By the way, there are 97 others out there. Sick of it.
