I looked at this sign this morning and said, “This is me in the past 7 days!”
In ministry there are times when doing the right thing costs you points with people. Why? Because people hate to be held to a standard, even one that they have agreed to be held to!
Yesterday I had the great displeasure of telling one of my students she couldn’t go on our mission trip. We actually had a tough, but fair, discussion. She had been put on warning and I had let her slide 2 times… The last time I told her that if she broke a rule she couldn’t go. So she broke a rule yesterday.
I hate being the bad guy. It is my job and what I did was best for all parties… But I hate hurting someone. (Even if it was her own fault and I did everything I could do to avoid it.)
This is the trouble with working with adolescents. Sometimes you get snakebit. I am praying this week will be better.
