a conservative 1-2 punch

Like a lot of Americans, I awoke to he news that George W. Bush had nominated his special counsel, Harriet Miers, to the Supreme Court. [Read news story]

If this nomination goes through, it will probably tip the balance towards the conservatives. I for one, am a fan of a conservative federal government. But I am also a fan of states ruling themselves… I think that John Roberts will protect federalism and the rights of the states.

If confirmed, will this lead to the overturning of Roe vs. Wade? I think so since it was such a terrible ruling and the plantiff has readily admitted that she lied about the nature of her pregnancy… but I also don’t think that overturning Roe vs. Wade will lead to making all abortions illegal. What I hope is that it will stop the abortion on demand industry that is destroying our nation… particularly among minority groups. I think that abortion will end up being a protected medical practice for ever, but not as an on-demand thing, probably switching the language to “medically necessary.”

Granted, it’s a given that I am very conservative on this issue… but I think that something like that would help eliminate the wholesale murder of infants while protecting women.

All of that to say, I don’t think Harriet Miers will get confirmed. I think she is too conservative and the Senate will nail her for her lack of experience as a judge. Let’s put it this way, I’d like to see her confirmed… but I don’t think it is going to happen.

She thinks Bush is the most brilliant man she has ever met? Is she his lapdog. I’m afraid she may be his parrot at the USSC. We need independant thinkers not yes men(or women).

The overturning of Roe v. Wade would be a terrible thing, especially for poor women. It is unacceptable for any woman to have to travel to another state to have an abortion. And until every single so-called “pro life” person has PERSONALLY ADOPTED an unwanted, non-white, possibly crack-addicted baby, I will fight with every fibre of my being against this assault on women’s rights.

Wouldn’t it be lovely if every pregnancy ended with a wanted baby? That’s just not reality. AND, the choice of whether or not to proceed with any pregnancy is the right of the woman whose body feeds that embryo.

Get your government OUT of my uterus. Women who don’t want abortions are not forced to have them.

And as far as I am concerned, men don’t get to weigh in on this particular issue.

Interesting that your comment makes it pretty clear that the reader didn’t read my post. I think I made a pretty clear argument which wasn’t responded to at all.

How can a baby created between a man and women be a womens only issue again? And how can it be that we have to protect this for the sake of the poor? Does the reader not understand that the abortion industry targets poor women? Does she not see that by targeting poor, mostly minority women, rich white women [who run abortion for profit groups!] are doing everything they can to control the minority populations? I doubt it. All she sees is that she doesn’t think men/women should have to bear the responsibility for their sexual laixity. With great freedom comes tremendous responisibility. If you have intercourse, you always run the risk of a pregnancy.

Of course, the biggest thing the commenter didn’t read was that while I think Roe vs. Wade will be overturned, I don’t think it will evaporate abortion rights… only the free access to abortions as opposed to medically necessary abortions. Remember… Roe lied! She readily admits it… her testimony was all a lie… so Roe vs. Wade is based on lies.
