My first thought was that it is very Ameri-centric. Many countries, many MODERN countries, do not always hold all of these rights to be unalienable…including our own. I guess my main question, is this worldwide vision of democracy and equality a political fad, like communism, or are they timeless values to be held for all time? You would like to say the latter, but history shows that these values are not, in fact, universal and timeless. So does that make this a fad?
Does that make sense?

I suppose I should clarify: Do I believe in these universal rights? Yes, wholeheatedly and 100%.
I just become suspicious when this kind of “Declaration” reminds me so much of other times when where people were like, “hey, that sounds good! Let’s do that!” Without a second thought, with disastrous results(examples? Mao, Hitler, Stalin, Castro…)

Yeah, I looked it up. That’s another thought I have floating around that I can’t fit in the puzzle, either.
