Getting Lenty With It

Will Smith - Getting Jiggy Wit It

I don’t really know what Lent and Will Smith have to do with anything. But, being Ash Wednesday, I did wake up with Lent on my mind.

And apparently 1990’s populist rap.

So putting my 1990s-ness with my thoughts about Lent and apparently this makes, Getting Lenty With It.

January Was All About Lent

Despite 30,000 miles in air travel in January a major narrative in my life was two Lenten products we just released at The Youth Cartel.

Lent

9780988741317-front-smallThe first is a student devotional appropriately called, Lent. This little book is practical and solid. Each day has a reading, a meditation, and some questions to think about. It should take a student a minute to read but give them a lot to chew on during each day. It’s from first time author Erik Willits and he even has an awesome little website to go along with each day.

You can buy it now, though it’s on backorder until next week. I never even got to list this on Amazon or sell it to our distributors. It was sold out by the time it arrived. If I’d have ordered another 1,000 copies I could have sold them by Saturday… it was one of those kinds of titles.

Stations of the Cross

stations-cover-smallNext up is Stations of the Cross, an unconventional product from Steve Case… an unconventional kind of guy.

We’ve released it as a digital-first product along the same lines as Good News in the Neighborhood. (Meaning, it’s a download from our site, but we’ll burn it to a DVD so you can buy it at an event.) We’re calling it a curriculum but it’s an unconventional curriculum, especially if you’re an evangelical. You could very easily use this as a personal Lenten devotional, as small group discussion, or even as a family devotional.

Like I said, I’m feeling all Lenty with it. I just have to figure out what I’m giving up this year.
