Sights and Sounds from Haiti

If you’ve never been to Haiti you need to know that it is a place of alluring beauty. I don’t know how to explain it but I draw energy from being here. It has a pace & vibrancy that’s intense. Everything is just a little bit turned up… noises, colors, humidity, etc. While I can’t share the flavors or the smells… I can certainly share some sights and sounds to give you a feel for what it’s like to be here.

Sounds

First, I recorded this little clip during a kids ministry time in Hinche today. A few things I love about this recording. First, the male voice you hear is Jonas, a Haitian Praying Pelican staff member. Second, I love the sound of kids worship Jesus in any language. Third, if you listen carefully you can hear the sound of birds chirping in the background.

Video

Several people have asked me about the roads and driving around Haiti. Well, here’s some raw video off my GoPro today. It gives you a glimpse of what it’s like driving around rural areas. (Haiti is densely populated, so even rural areas have people walking around.)

Excellent. Glad you were able to share the video. That is the type of material I want to be able to bring home. The music was also nice. Had to listen twice to hear the birds. Nice layout on the page…..And, you get a car!@! No school bus? How cool is that! Thanks.
