College Football Thoughts – Week 8

the-adam-report

What an insanely fun weekend for college football. That is if you like upsets.

Notre Dame

Let’s face it. With all the upsets this game was the doormat. But we learned three things.

  1. The defense can make plays when it needs to.
  2. Tommy Reese is our QB. As soon as he went out Andrew Hendricks wasn’t able to move the ball. (If Reese is out this week expect to see a freshmen QB against Air Force.)
  3. USC hurt themselves. They had multiple opportunities to win the game in the 4th quarter but penalties cost them. They should call and fire Lane Kiffin again after last week’s loss.

Elsewhere

Pandemonium. Louisville? Really. George O’Leary’s UCF was the upset special, again? Amazing.

And Florida State steamrolled Clemson. I never saw that coming. And I’m pretty sure Clemson’s coach woke up in a cold sweat about 2 AM on Sunday morning hoping it was a nightmare. The Seminole’s are back. But please no tomahawk chop.

The wheels are off at Georgia. They lost to Vanderbilt. Not even Anderson Cooper picked Vandy over Georgia.

When it comes to upsets the best one of the weekend in my eyes was Tennessee over South Carolina. While the SEC, as a whole, is clearly on the decline… coming back to earth… it’s great to see Tennessee reemerging from the shadows.

Seriously, SEC fans are delirious.

Results
