Spring Travel Schedule

The next few months will find me in a bunch of places, I’d love to meet-up if it works. Here’s where I’ll be and how we can connect.

February 5th – Grace Chapel – Boston Area

Next Wednesday I’m spending the afternoon with the staff team at Grace Chapel, then leading a parent/teenager event on social media that night. So if you have a teenager, work with teenagers, or are a teenager… come on over and hang out with us.

February 7th-8th – Open Boston – Gordon College

Marko and I will be at Open Boston on both days.  Friday we have two intensives, one from Marko and the other from Rachel Blom. Then we’re having a dinner and time of worship together. Saturday we’ve got a massive 4-track Open… our biggest yet. If you live in New England you really need to come check this out. It’s just $25, too. (Includes both days, 2 meals, and a whole bunch of goodies.)

February 11th – Garden City, TX

I’m spending all day with elementary through high school students talking about social media, online gaming, and how to use them in a healthy way. This is an all-day safety event hosted by the local agricultural board and 4-H. This is so outside of my normal thing, I’m totally excited. While the event is private I’ll be in Midland on Tuesday night if anyone wants to meet for dinner.

February 22nd – Open Grand Rapids – Cornerstone University

This is my geographical stomping grounds, even though I’ve never lived in West Michigan. Growing up in South Bend, IN going to college in Chicago, and having spent 5 years in the Detroit suburb of Romeo… Open Grand Rapids feels a little like coming home.

This trip is even more special because it’s Jackson’s first trip with dad. He’ll be staying with his grandparents in Westland and together we’re headed back up to Romeo on Sunday the 23rd. I’d love to connect while we’re in the area. (It really has been unfortunate how little I’ve been in Michigan since we moved, not intentional at all.)

March 10th-12th – Northlake Christian School – Covington, LA

I’m spending 3-days on campus with students as their Spiritual Emphasis Week speaker. (And parent night!) Really looking forward to that. This is also my first trip to the New Orleans area.

March 16th – Best Ever Parent Training Ever – First UMC of Starksville, MS

I’m speaking at an event for parents of teenagers, we’ll be talking about teenage brains and social media. (Two different sessions) I’d love to see you there. I just learned last night that this is also the home of Mississippi State University. So I have a feeling I’ll be exploring campus a little, too.

March 19th-20th – Progressive Youth Ministry Conference – Chicago, IL

Really looking forward to checking out this event. (See my interview with Tony Jones here) I won’t have transportation so I won’t be able to go out to meet anyone in the burbs, but I’d love to hang out with folks at the conference. Or if you want to come down and say hello, I’m always down for coffee. It’s super fun for me that this conference is at Fourth Pres, a church I attended at Moody, and a church that’s so close to MBI… I know this part of Chicago really well.

March 30th – The Place – Wickenburg, AZ

I’ll be preaching Sunday morning at The Place and hosting a parent training on social media later that afternoon. This will be a quick weekend trip, but I’d sure love to see familiar faces at church on Sunday or at the parent event.

April 12th – 15th – Haiti Vision Trip – Carrefour, Haiti

I’m headed down to Haiti with Praying Pelican Missions and a bunch of youth workers who are interested in learning about PPM’s work in Haiti. Even though the deadline has technically passed, I’m sure we could figure out a way to get you there. See this post for details.

Is that it?

Those are the things I know about right now. I actually have 10-15 other trips in various stages of planning, some for this Spring. And if you think this schedule is a bit nuts… wait until you see my fall calendar!

I really do want to connect. Whether it’s a quick hello at an event or sitting down for a cup of coffee, I’m all about hanging out when it fits my schedule. (I’ve also learned when I need to say no, like driving two hours to come have coffee… probably not going to happen!)

Travel Tips Wanted

If you see some place on this list and think… “Oh, you really need to go ____.” Please share that with me. Wherever possible, I am staying at airbnb places and not hotels. And I love to try the best/most fun local food spots when I’m visiting a place… I really hate big chain food.
