  • 5 Songs that Pump Me Up

Music is a powerful measuring stick for where a person is in their life, isn’t it?

The songs that I identify with right now reflect a lot of who I am as well as a lot about how I feel about the stuff going on in my life. Here are songs that I listen to on a regular basis and just get me all fired up-n-stuff. A couple of them are obvious while a couple may only make sense to me.

    1. Mama Said Knock You Out by LL Cool J

    2. Waiting on the World to Change by John Mayer

    3. Lose Yourself by Eminem (not sure when I haven’t loved this song!)

    4. Rise by Eddie Vedder

    5. You Found Me by The Fray

What gets you all fired up-n-stuff?

  • Saturday Tunes

Saturday TunesAh, the weekend. After a fairly stressful start to my week we hit Thursday and coasted. Lots of good stuff happened this week. Lots of stuff accomplished. But it was a front-loaded week and it felt good to have a couple easy days.

Last night I went with Chris, a staffer at Harbor, over to Rock Church for a thing on the economy and social justice. I don’t know that I really learned anything new about what has happened and what is happening with our nations finances, but it was very good to see a church educating its people about what it all means for them and what they can do.

Today is a normal Saturday. Kristen is off to climb Cowles Mountain while I hang with the kids. Later, we’ll take Stoney to the beach. Kristen and Paul already have in a request for Chinese food for lunch… so I guess it’s that and then more fun the rest of the weekend. I’m already looking forward to going to the beach Sunday afternoon.

Here are the next 10 tunes I’m listening to this morning. As usual, these are completely random and my ratings are included.

  • Saturday Tunes

Saturday TunesIt’s been a good week. OK, better than average. It’s been a really nice week. A friend was nice enough to watch our kids on Monday and Wednesday. (Last week of their 3 week Spring Break) She took them to the pool, had some wicked great activities, and on Wednesday they went to see Disney’s Earth movie. Tuesday, Kristen stayed home with them and took them to the Kroc Center pool. Thursday was my day, I took the kids to Sea World… fulfilling one of my lifelong desires to see Shamu. I suppose the kids had a good time too. Yesterday, the kids tagged along with me in the office for a few hours and then we drove up to Oceanside to hang with dear friends from Romeo, Fran and Andrea.

On top of that, we got our State and Federal tax returns. That was a major fast-forward towards our financial goals for 2009.

Now its the weekend. Kristen is already off to her weekly romp up Cowles Mountain. Later this morning I’ll take the dog to the beach so he can play in the water. In the meantime, I’m chilling and listening to some music. Here are the next 10 songs on my playlist. As always, selected at random and my ratings included.

  • Saturday Tunes

Saturday TunesIt was a loco week. Not in a bad way, either. My head is spinning this weekend with all the fun stuff that happened in the previous 7 days. But today is Saturday and I am trying hard to put all of that aside so I can recoup for the week to come. This morning I am off to dog beach to let Stoney run. It’s going to be a fantastic weekend weather-wise, so I am guessing this won’t be our only trip to the beach. (Actually, Kristen and I snuck in an afternoon date yesterday where we went to the beach and walked along the surf.)

Here are the next 10 tunes I’m jamming to right now. As always, completely random and my ratings are included.
