  • Check out YMX!

Hey, a buddy of mine and I launched a website lately for youth workers to connect up. This is filling the forum void left behind since YS closed their forums back in June.

Anyway, check it out at ymexchange.com

You can see my new blog at http://www.adammclane.com

  • Back in the saddle again….

As of this moment, there are high schoolers on their way to my house for zero hour bible study and my vacation is over. It was nice while it lasted and I am ready to get back to it.

  • It’s a hard knock life, for me!

    HardlifeThink you’ve got it tough?

    How’d you like to have your house on the market for $40 million and not get any offers. Poor baby has to suffer in one of the 14 bedrooms. [See story}

  • DTE = da terrible electric company

Dte_2Well, our electric problems are now behind us. After the supervisor lady came last night to put a bandaid on the problem we were told that no one would come here until Saturday at the earliest.

Afterwards, the T-day meal wore off and I quickly fell asleep on the couch with Stoney warming my toes on the floor below me.

About 1:00 AM the doorbell rang. I had been asleep for hours so I wasn’t actually sure if it really rang or if I just had some sort of weird dream that had a doorbell in it that woke me up. About 3-4 minutes after the doorbell I decided that it must have really rung and I checked on it. Sure enough there were two DTE trucks. Within a few minutes they drove one of those massive trucks into our backyard and started working.

So, it’s all done. I am glad for that but did I tell you they came at 1:00 AM? Strange.

  • A note from Dublin

CovellsThis morning my mailbox was glowing with a nice note from Jon Covell. It was nice to hear from him and to read a little about how things are going for he and his family in the Dublin area.

One memory I have from Dublin last summer… as we blurry-eyed travellers boarded a bus from Dublin International Airport and made our way to Belfast I remember joking with my group… "So this is Ireland? Isn’t looking too green just yet. Looks pretty much like Michigan." Of course, I was dead wrong.

  • Power Problems

DteLast night we had tons of problems with our power. Thankfully, Jon was still here and helped me figure out that it wasn’t the wiring project we had just finished… our problems were caused by a tree rubbing against our main power line coming from the pole to the house. So, exactly half of our power system flickered all night long, each time the wind blew.

So, as I was trying to keep up with fantasy football and talk to several friends online, my connection kept being lost. As of right now, since the blowing has stopped, power seems to have stabalized. But DTE is still coming out today to cut away the branches that are causing trouble and run a new line.

  • Green Puppy

Green_puppyAnd you thought you had problems in life? How about being born green? [New story]

Thanks to Kristen for sending that my way. I don’t know if she was trying to send me a message about me or not. Afterall, this pup was born a Notre Dame fan. Sorry Stoney, move over… we’ve got a new puppy coming that is just right for our house.

  • talk note reminder

Occasionally I get e-mails asking me about what we are currently teaching in Light Force. All of my notes from Light Force talks are available online in Adobe Acrobat Reader format. Just click on the link to the right that says "My Talk Notes"

  • version 3 update

Well, it’s a good thing I have a tangible amount of free time. Because in my free time I am going through the process of re-reading my old blog, versions 2.0 and 2.5 and deciding which of the 700+ posts to move to version 3.0. Originally, I wanted to move several hundred posts here… but now I am thinking if I do 100 it may be too many. Since it takes me 5-10 minutes per post to read through it and transfer it over… 100 is a big goal.

  • good morning at the church

OK, so I am biased about what we are doing. But I felt pretty good about church today. The jr./sr. high split is going OK, the feel of Sunday school is about where I want it to be, on and on.

Valley I thought the worship service today was pretty solid. It’s no secret that we’ve had plenty of technical problems lately… today everything worked for the most part. We had some problems with Media Shout 2.5, but I will be upgrading that to version 3 later this week. Hopefully that will stabilize all of that stuff and the transition to fully digital will work a lot better. Also, tech news… the new handhelds worked great. PHEW! I also enjoyed highlighting the ministry of the Esklund’s in Denmark. [see picture] Holy cow, I could live there, it is beautiful.

For the rest of today… I am planning on resting. Jon might come over later, but I will be resting mostly. With all the wind today I can’t really work outside anyway.
