Light Force Recap

Lightforcelogo1_1Thankfully I’ve done this long enough to know that being in youth group in May tends to be weird. The students are what we call "squirrly" and I’m also at a point in our series where I want to both finish strong and just finish it.

Last night when I was talking about Noah I knew I was in trouble when I said the word "sex." It wasn’t an embarassment thing for them, it just got their minds wandering. A giggle here and a giggle there. Some weird looks, some side conversations. (Especially when you talk about humans having sex with non-humans… boy that set them off!)

I’ve learned the hard way not to take questions. About 4 years ago I was talking in our middle school group from Genesis when a hand went up. A very innocent and serious 12 year old girl asked "Pastor Adam, what does it mean to be circumsised?" I fumbled around a little bit about cutting foreskin… then I said, the best thing to do is read Genesis 17 and if she still didn’t get it, to ask her dad.

I’m not exempt from stupid questions that disrupt things. As a junior at Moody I raised my hand and asked in a Genesis class as we studied Genesis 17, "So who do you think went first? Or did God’s commandment come with some instructions? I mean, how did Abraham know how to do that?"
