Saturday TunesSince Spring has finally arrived in most of the country, I don’t mind bragging a little. We’re going to have a fantastic weekend! With tempuraturs in the mid to upper 70s, our family is drawn to the beach like a mosquito to a bug zapper. Right now, Kristen is meeting some of my co-workers for a hike up Cowles Mountain. Later this morning we’ll all take Stoney to the beach for his weekly ocean therepy. Tommorow we’re headed to the beach after church to resume our Sunday beach tradition after a long break for Winter. Then on Monday night our community group has decided to meet down in Ocean Beach for a bonfire on the beach.

In the meantime, the kids are watching cartoons. Water is boiling for coffee and I am settling in to relax a bit. Here are the next 10 tunes I’m listening to. As always, no cheating and my ratings are included.

Saturday TunesEaster weekend 2009. As Kristen said on her blog, Easter is a completely different experience for us. For the first time in our kids lives we aren’t attached running around the church. The highlight of our Easter celebration, so far, was Thursday night’s Messianic Seder. If ever there was a kinesthetic learning time for a community group, this was it.

Yesterday I had the day off. Another first in my adult life! Kristen went to work in the morning and in the afternoon I drove up to LA to pick up Cathie, Patti‘s daughter. She is here this week thawing out from a long winter and helping us watch the kids on their Spring Break. A win-win! We got back about 8:30 and I think everyone had crashed out by 10:00. This morning, everyone… less Cathie… has crawled out of bed and is quietly going about their business. When Kristen gets back from her hike up Cowles Mountain I’ll be taking Stoney to dog beach for his weekly therepy of ocean and butt sniffing. I’m already looking forward to a great Easter service, a picnic with our refugee friends, and a great week next week.

So that’s my corner of the world this Saturday morning. Here are my next 10 tunes. As always, completely random… ratings included.

All sorts of little things to do today. Right now I’m off to take Stoney for his weekly trip to the beach. After that we’re going to a Chinese festival downtown, the kids have been learning about Asian culture at school and this seemed like a fun way to celebrate that. Later, a couple of friends are coming over for an early dinner. Then, we’re off to a screening party of Ian’s 12 Films in 12 Months.

This morning was another normal routine Saturday morning. Up super early, listening to tunes and stuff like that. Other than catching up on my Google Reader stuff, I played around with a couple of things on Youth Ministry Pro. [Job search site]

Anyway, here’s the last 10 tunes I listened to. Totally random and my ratings included.

Late December. No mans land for all things blog heavy! I have lots of heavy thoughts floating around that will be fantastic blog posts one day. But the simple reality is that it’s a good time to just chill out and not try to change the world too much this time of year. Truth is, had Luther posted his 95 Thesis in the week between Christmas and New Years the movement now known as Protestantism would have never gotten off the ground.

Nice weather returns to San Diego today. With that in mind, Kristen and I are hoping to take the kids to the Ocean Beach Pier. We’ve wanted to walk out there and it looks like today is the day!

As I wait for it to warm up outside (currently 41, high of 61) I’m jamming to some music. Here are the next 10 songs on my playlist. As always, completely random and ratings included.

    #1 Drifter by Decemberadio *****

#2 Take Me by Vineyard Generation ****

#3 One Step Closer (Live) by Linkin Park *****

#4 New York by Cat Power ***

#5 Black Water by The Doobie Brothers ****

#6 Only One by Lifehouse ****

#7 All Creatures of our God and King by David Crowder Band ***

#8 Counting Blue Cars by Dishwalla ****

#9 Walkin’ by Miles Davis *****

#10 New Soul by Yael Naim *****

saturday tunesThis week I got a new MacBook. (not the Air, a black MacBook since I wasn’t impressed with the Air. Just to clarify!) In the course of moving over 40gb of data I wasn’t able to import all of my ratings from iTunes into the new computer. Total bummer on that. The result is that I have to start over with my ratings… all 5,000 songs now have to be re-rated. That said, today’s edition of the Saturday Tunes is going to be especially random. As usual, these are the next 10 tunes coming out of my iTunes shuffle, no cheating and ratings included.

    1. Walkin’ by Miles Davis ****
    2. Searching by Jadon Lavik **
    3. Pomp and Circumstance ** <– graduation song, too funny
    4. The Beginning by Lifehouse **
    5. Hidden Track by Shaun Groves * (this song is so annoying, I like it but the mix is so odd, there is a girl on the recording from the audience who kills the song)
    6. Restore by Daystar **
    7. It’s Like Me by Kutless **
    8. Listen to the Music by The Doobie Brothers ****
    9. I Can Wait by Out of the Grey *
    10. In My Place by Coldplay *** (Gotta be depressed to like this one)
