  • Fantastic Pointless Roadtrip

in n outI love taking students on spiritual journeys. I call them “pointless road trips.” In other words, I like to pile a few students into the church van to drive a long way for something fairly benign. My personal favorite was driving to Grand Rapids (2 hours) to watch a movie.

But Stuart Delony is taking it to a whole new level. He is taking a couple of leaders and several students on a 1000 mile quest for an In-n-Out Burger. For those who have never tasted In-n-Out burgers let me just tell you that 1000 miles may not be too far. They are the king of the fast food burger.

    Here’s what he writes:

This is actually a contemplative journey for 6 high school students that happens to involve fast food, visiting churches as we drive, prayer, questions and camping on the Oregon coast. link

Hey man, if the boss bought that line than you are my hero. Enjoy the ride!

  • New Template @ adammclane.com

new2If you are an RSS subscriber to the blog you’ll want to come check out the site. Tonight I put in a new theme. It’s a look that I’ve been thinking about for a few weeks now. The truth of the matter is that I really wanted to make some changes to some of my production sites, but Patti wouldn’t let me. 🙂 So I took it out on my blog!

Also new to the blog is the monster. My byline is “Crazy enough to want to change the world” and my monster is crazy. If you have a suggested name for the monster please leave a comment! Otherwise, I’d really like to hear reader feedback. As always, you can leave a comment or email mclanea@gmail.com.

  • Ed Young Opens a Can on a Bass

I have no idea what the backstory is here with Ed Young. But here’s a pastor down at Fellowship Church in Texas who really knows how to handle his bass. I love a good pun, very funny.

  • Spiritual Statistics

This is part of the presentation for Sunday. Feel free to use it for your own use. As far as I know all of these statistics are from Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life’s “U.S. Religious Landscape Survey.” (Thanks Patti for the clarification.)

  • Saturday Tunes

saturday tunesSaturday beckons across Michgan land. With the Spartans eliminated from the Big Dance last night, basketball takes a backseat today. Today we have some do-it yourself stuff to finish in the house. Yuck.

Here are the next 10 tunes playing in my ears this Saturday morning. As always, this is completely random, no cheating, with ratings included.

    1. No Plan B by Group 1 Crew ****
    2. Long Train Runnin’ by The Doobie Brothers ****
    3. Treason by Kutless ****
    4. Do What You Have to Do by Sarah McLaughlin ****
    5. Nothing is Impossible by Vicky Beeching ****
    6. Fallin’ by Alicia Keys ****
    7. Strong by Audio Adrenaline ****
    8. Your Love by The Outfield ****
    9. Healed by Nicole Nordeman ****
    10. Enough by Chris Tomlin ****

Weird that it chose ten 4 Star songs in a row. And… iTunes is apparently slightly depressed. Got some tunes you’re listening to this sunny Saturday?

  • PZ Myers vs. Ben Stein

Patti just told me of “an interruption” during a media conference call with Ben Stein about his upcoming movie, “Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed

Apparently, PZ Myers was not invited to the “invite only” call but gained access to the access code through someone else. Patti will be writing about it more soon, but here is her note. I know she is trying to follow up with both Stein’s people and Myers to get the full story.

  • 2 Quick Movie Reviews

A couple months back Kristen won a subscription to NetFlix. Since then, we’ve been catching up on our movies. Here are two quick reviews of movies we’ve watched in the last 48 hours.

Man of the YearMan of the Year. Any movie with Robin Williams is going to be funny. Robins plays Tom Dobbs, a late night talk show comedian who runs for president and wins. At least, he thinks he wins until he learns that there is a conspiracy. What shocked us was that this wasn’t a comedy! It’s fairly dramatic as Dobbs and his handlers discuss many serious issues infected our political system. This is a great election year movie and I’d highly recommend it.

No Country for Old MenNo Country for Old Men. This was a very pretty film. There is a reason it won Best Picture at the Oscars. It has a great cast. I like Tommy Lee Jones and Woody Harrelson and the rest of the cast which you’ve never heard of. But this wasn’t the best movie of 2007. I don’t know how it won. It was very dark and labeled a thriller. I don’t think it was that thrilling. And I think that there was zero character development as the real star, the bad guy, was just as bad at the end as he was at the beginning. The hero is killed, the lead actor doesn’t do anything lead worthy, and all of the characters are exactly the same as when the movie started. It’s not worth seeing and wasn’t worth the hype. A good movie, worthy of a rental if you simply have to see the Best Picture of 2007. (Fans of Juno will know they were robbed!)

  • Bank Robbery: Why banks rob consumers…

bank robberWalking into a bank is like walking into a casino. You walk into the building and think to yourself, “Where did they get all of this money? The answer is simple: They make it from people like me.

  • 10 Things I Did While My Friends Were in Florida

I mentioned this project earlier today, here is the video. I think it turned out pretty funny. What do you think?

  • Off to Shoot a Movie

Today I’m hanging out with my favorite peeps, the cast and crew from Light Force. We’re going to conceptualize, shoot, edit, and release a movie today.

It’s called “10 Things I Did While My Friends Were in Florida.” We’ll be driving all over the Metro area shooting all sorts of weird things. I can’t wait to see what they come up with.
