    Food Fight!

A few days ago a Christian radio show host called out Mark Driscoll for plagiarism on the air.

It was the proverbial first plate of gross school lunch thrown in what has become a little bit of a food fight between the Neo-Reformed crowd and the Progressive Patheos crowd.

Was it really plagiarism? I’m not sure that it’s the right word.

St. Luke Drawing a Portrait of the Virgin Mary

Luke, a middle-aged physician hired by a wealthy Roman to document the story of Jesus, sat down on a bench next to an aging Jewish woman somewhere in the Roman province of Judea.

Luke’s task was to put together the story– in order– the story of Jesus and his followers. People in Rome were talking about this Jewish Messiah but what they knew about him was in bits and pieces, stories told from Jews.

  • Blogging 101: 5 Things to Do Before You Start a Blog

    Blogging 101

    “You should start a blog.”

That’s a phrase that haunts many people. You hear it once from someone you respect and it sticks. You start thinking to yourself: Man, I need to start blogging.

I’m closing in on a decade of blogging. I got started in May 2004. In that time I’ve seen literally thousands of people start a blog, get it going, only to quit because they had no plan to get past the early energy from that one compliment.

  • Small Talk

One thing that works for me as a parent is creating [hopefully] memorable experiences. I’m not great in the day-to-day. But I feel like I’m pretty decent when I can do something special with my kids.

We used yesterday’s Wooden Legacy Finals in Anaheim as an excuse to hang out together for twelve hours. And as much as I’d like to say that I had some sort of a grand plan to make the most out of our day together, I really didn’t. I just knew we were going to spend time together and over the course of that I hoped we’d enjoy some bonding time and get past our normal small talk.

  • Happy, Healthy, and Simple Adult Relationships

So Lisa, who lived with us briefly after finishing her undergrad at Grace College– but also essentially lived in our ministry for several years during high school, got engaged last night. That’s a continuation of the parade of weddings we’re in for in 2014 from students in Romeo.

This morning our dear friend Barb posted this on Facebook:

  • Dealing with Fatigue

Screen Shot 2013-11-26 at 9.34.20 AMI’m still recovering from two months of travel. I came back from my last trip very worn out and fighting a chest cold that just won’t let go.

The past couple of weeks… I’ve just been tired. Normally, a day off will do for recovery. But this has been different. Each day I get up and mash the gas peddle of what I want to do… and there’s simply no vroom there.

  • College Football Thoughts – Week 14

    the-adam-report

If there is any doubt that college football surpasses the NFL in

the psyche of the American people, all doubt was set aside yesterday as CFB experienced it’s most exciting Saturday of the season.

4 of the top 25 teams fell to lesser opponents including 2 of the top 5 in Oregon and Baylor.

Not the type of person who buys shoes at Foot Locker, but I have to admit this is a fantastic commercial.

    Well done.
