Late December. No mans land for all things blog heavy! I have lots of heavy thoughts floating around that will be fantastic blog posts one day. But the simple reality is that it’s a good time to just chill out and not try to change the world too much this time of year. Truth is, had Luther posted his 95 Thesis in the week between Christmas and New Years the movement now known as Protestantism would have never gotten off the ground.

Nice weather returns to San Diego today. With that in mind, Kristen and I are hoping to take the kids to the Ocean Beach Pier. We’ve wanted to walk out there and it looks like today is the day!

As I wait for it to warm up outside (currently 41, high of 61) I’m jamming to some music. Here are the next 10 songs on my playlist. As always, completely random and ratings included.

I am far from chilled out. This is the first day of my winter break. There’s plenty to do. Starting Christmas shopping would be a good start. In a couple of hours we are going to go look at a new place to rent. We’re just starting to think about this as our current place is too small. Kristen and I are going to sit down and hammer out ideas for Beyond the Zoo. (launching January 1st, ahhh!) I have a couple lingering work projects that I need to take care of. I really want to get some reading done. Yeah, lots of other things to do.

Anyway, I’m taking a little timeout right now. Cleansing breath in. All that jazz. So here are the next 10 tunes flowing through my cranium. As always, this is a completely random shuffle. No cheating, my rating is included.

Kristen and I are feeling a bit post-party this morning. (I’ll create another post a little later about the YS Christmas party.) We don’t have anything on the agenda today. Seriously, other than picking-up Jonathan and taking him to the airport, I am not sure what we are doing with our day.

This morning is pancakes and chatting with our kids about last night. Megan and Paul had FOUR babysitters last night. Jon, Jenna, Paul, and Amy from our community group completely spoiled our kids last night with a holiday party of their own. They made gingerbread houses, played Christmas bingo, chubby bunny, and good cop/bad cop.

Anyway, as always music is a part of my morning. Here are the next ten tunes playing on my iPod. As always, I’m just hitting the shuffle songs button and recording what comes up. So this is completely random, no cheating, and my personal rankings are included.

After a quick trip to Vegas for Turkey at my mom’s house, today lands our family back in San Diego.

I can’t tell you how good it is to know that I have no scheduled trips for work. I’m home for the holidays and that’s cool. Anyway, today is a chill day. I’m working on about 6 different writing projects for the blog, plus doing some pre-launch brainstorming for my new web ideas. Oh, and later I get to watch Notre Dame get pounded by USC.

It’s going to be a fun weekend for the McLane family. Our friend Dave is headed down from San Fransisco for a quick trip. We’re not 100% exactly what we’ll be doing, but the weather will be warm and I have no doubt that we will find some fun.

I’ve got a couple more hours until he comes, so you know the iPod will be on in the background of everything else. Here are the next 10 tunes I’ll be listening to. As always, this is completely random, no cheating, ratings included.

It’s been a recovery week for me. A lot of extra rest and a lot of extra time spent with Kristen. Today is a continuation of that. Kristen is going off with a friend to La Jolla for a meeting and I’m chillaxing at home with the short people in my life. If we get adventurous we may venture out, but I am thinking we’ll mostly just hang here.

As always, music is a big part of my day. Here are the next 10 tunes funneling from my ipod to my cranium. I’m sharing them with you completely at random, without cheating, and my ratings included.

In case you hadn’t heard, MTV has opened the archives to all of their videos for you to enjoy. I found my favorite, what’s yours? (My boss loves Eminem and has been blasting it from her office.)

I think this is the 50th edition of Saturday Tunes. It may not be the most consistent feature of my blog, but it is one of my personal favorites.

This morning I find myself at my mom’s house in Las Vegas. We needed a car and they had an extra so it worked out. Last night, I took the 40 minute flight from San Diego to Las Vegas. Actually, we sat on the tarmac in San Diego for almost as long as long as our flight because apparently a couple checked in for the flight but couldn’t wait for the plane to take off if you know what I mean. Meanwhile,

On flight 451 to Las Vegas
On flight 451 to Las Vegas

I was sitting in the back of the aircraft with 4 guys who could have come off the set of any Cheech and Chong movie. An early evening flight to Las Vegas is an experience everyone should try… once!

Later this morning I’ll begin my drive back to San Diego. And since I’m alone these are the next 10 songs I’ll be singing down the highway.

#1 Tell Me Something Good the Happy Feet Soundtrack ****

    #2 Spin by Lifehouse ****

#3 Pork and Beans by Weezer *****

#4 Wink and a Smile by Harry Connick Jr. ****

    #5 Beautiful Day by U2 *****

#6 Two Lights by Five for Fighting ****

#7 California Uber Alles by Dead Kennedy’s ****

#8 When I Said I would by Whitney Duncan ****

#9 Sister Rosetta by Noisettes ****

#10 You are Good by Lincoln Brewster ****

Looks like the first hour of my drive is going to be eccectic. Maybe not as odd as the flight last night… How about you? What is on your list this morning?
