Saturday TunesAh, Memorial Day. It’s hard to have an “unofficial start to summer” when your kids have 6 weeks left in school and the temperature pretty much hovers around the same 20 degree variable 10 months a year. Alas, it’s summer and I’m excited about that.

We’ve had a hectic for a kick-off to a 3 day weekend. Last night we decided to take the trolley down to the Gasplamp district of San Diego to enjoy our family date night. While we got settled onto the trolley I got a text that my long-awaited iPhone app had finally released. (You get to submit and wait for Apple, no choice on a release date.) Tucking that distraction into the back of my mind we had a good evening of walking around downtown and eating at the Old Spaghetti Factory. [Just OK food, but the kids liked it.]

This morning I woke up and did a bit of PR to get things moving with the app. Then I dashed of to Del Mar to film a podcast segment with a comedian… who was funny despite it being 10 in the morning. From here we actually don’t know what we’re doing until Tuesday morning. I’m sure we’ll figure it out.

For now, I’m just chilling and listening to some music.

Here are the next 10 tunes flowing to my cranium. As always… completely random with my ratings included:

Saturday TunesEaster weekend 2009. As Kristen said on her blog, Easter is a completely different experience for us. For the first time in our kids lives we aren’t attached running around the church. The highlight of our Easter celebration, so far, was Thursday night’s Messianic Seder. If ever there was a kinesthetic learning time for a community group, this was it.

Yesterday I had the day off. Another first in my adult life! Kristen went to work in the morning and in the afternoon I drove up to LA to pick up Cathie, Patti‘s daughter. She is here this week thawing out from a long winter and helping us watch the kids on their Spring Break. A win-win! We got back about 8:30 and I think everyone had crashed out by 10:00. This morning, everyone… less Cathie… has crawled out of bed and is quietly going about their business. When Kristen gets back from her hike up Cowles Mountain I’ll be taking Stoney to dog beach for his weekly therepy of ocean and butt sniffing. I’m already looking forward to a great Easter service, a picnic with our refugee friends, and a great week next week.

So that’s my corner of the world this Saturday morning. Here are my next 10 tunes. As always, completely random… ratings included.

Saturday TunesThis was an incredibly fast week. A week of big ups and downs. I’m actually thrilled to get to the weekend and start relaxing. Today we have some fun planned. The kids have been begging us to take them bowling… and since I’m not a fan of the game I’ve put it off for a long, long time. From there we plan on doing some furniture shopping. When we left Romeo we were going from 2000 square feet to about 1000. The new place is more like 1500… which means the kids rooms are virtually empty. So we’re off to find them desks and bookshelves and things like that. Then mom and dad get to have some fun. The contracts on our phones are finally open, so we’re going to head to the Apple store and finally jump on the iPhone 3G bandwagon. I had gone back and forth with the Blackberry vs. iPhone… in the end, the App store takes it over the edge.

This morning is quiet. Coffee brewing, birds chirping, music playing. Here are the next 10 songs playing on my (for sale) iPod. As always, completely random and my ratings are included.

Saturday TunesHere we are. Another Saturday. We’ve all awoken in a new place this week and it’s been fun. One thing we can’t get over about the new house is how quiet it is. No more noisy cars zooming by, no loud noise when the furnace kicks on, and we’re not so close to our neighbors that we can hear them sneeze.

This morning we are off to Anza-Borrego State Park to see the desert flowers. Yesterday, Tic told us we had to go this weekend or we’d be sorry. With advice like that we can’t go wrong. I’m sure we’ll have a ton of pictures to share of our adventure later.

In the meantime, I’m chilling in my super quiet house listening to music. Here are the next 10 tunes flowing this morning. Completely random, ratings included.

#1- Don’t Give Up by Sanctus Real ***

#2 Deliver Me by David Crowder Band ****

Another weekend of chillaxing ahead. We’re still getting used to having every weekend off. Yesterday afternoon I had the chance to take Kristen out for a lunch date. We tried out a a Vietnamese place in City Heights called, Pho King. (Yes, it is fun to say!) It was Kristen’s first Pho and I think she liked it. Than later, we took the kids out for fondue. We’ve got a pretty strong Friday night family date night thing going.

Today is a beach day. While it won’t hit 80 like it did yesterday, it will get into the 70s. First I’m going to take Stoney to dog beach so he can run and play with other dogs. Then later we’ll load the bikes up into the truck and ride around Pacific Beach.

Coffee in hand, iPod attached to my head. Here are the next 10 tunes I’m listening to this Saturday morning. As always, completely random with ratings included.

Just another lazy Saturday in McLane land. Other than taking Stoney over to dog beach to let him sniff butts and chase tennis balls, I don’t have plans for today. It’s kind of cold and wet here, so it’s not as if we’ll want to do much else.

Just like a typical Saturday morning, I’m getting it started with some Java (last of the Starbucks Christmas blend) and some headphone time. Here are the next 10 songs playing on my ipod. As always, totally random and my rating is included.

#10 Seven Bridges Road by The Eagles ****

Bonus! My buddy and worship leader at Stoneridge in Romeo, Jimmy Savage, has a song on iTunes. It’s a single off his upcoming album. I really like it, its called “Tonight.”

Here we go. Saturday morning. College football. A little Christmas shopping. And of course mega-cool-times with the family.
